Vuodesta 2009 harrastuspohjalta kuvattuja Lego Star Wars -valokuviani on verkossa katsottu miljoonia kertoja, niistä on kirjoiteltu monilla verkkosivuilla siellä sun täällä.
Vaikka verkkonäkyvyydellä on merkitystä, painettu kuva on viime kädessä konkreettisempi, valokuvani viimeiseltä kuudelta vuodelta päätyivätkin lopulta kirjan muotoon. Kirjan Small Scenes from a Big Galaxy julkaisija on Dorling Kindersley ja ilmestymispäivä on 10.11.
Toistaiseksi kirjasta on saatavilla englannin- ja ranskankielinen versio mutta lisää vaihtoehtoja kielitaitoisille on luvassa.
My Lego Star Wars photographs have received millions of hits online, they have been posted about on big websites many times.
Even though online exposure is important, a printed book is the ultimate platform, and lo and behold, my photographs from the past six years will be available in a book, at last. The publisher for the book Small Scenes from a Big Galaxy is Dorling Kindersley and it will be out on November the 10th.
For now, the book will be available in English and French, but more languages will get a print later.

Ville Tietäväisen sarjakuvateos Näkymättömät kädet (Les mains invisibles) voitti Ranskassa Prix des lecteurs du Var -palkinnon.

Osa vuosien varrella tekemistäni legovalokuvista on parhaillaan esillä Seattlessa Washingtonissa (USA) Bryan Ohno -galleriassa. Kyseessä ei ole ensimmäinen kerta kun kuviani on vedostettu mutta ensimmäinen kerta kun ne ovat näin isoina ja laadukkaasti tehtyinä. Tein kaikki kuvat uudestaan alkuperäisistä raw-tiedostoista suoraan lopullisessa koossa. Tiedostot olivat tolkuttoman kokoisia mutta se kannatti, oli ilo nähdä omat työt viimeinkin sellaisina kuin olin ne joskus ajatellut.
Yksin en näyttelyä pitänyt, tapahtuman moottorina toimi seattlelainen Shelly Corbett yhdessä tukholmalaisen Boris Vanrillaerin kanssa. He pyysivät minua projektiin mukaan viime vuoden puolella ja uteliaana lähdin mukaan. Näyttelykokonaisuudesta tuli kolmen tekijän ansiosta hieno. Kokemus on ollut erittäin mielenkiintoinen ja positiivinen.

Some of the Lego photographs I've taken over the years are up in the Bryan Ohno Gallery in Seattle WA. This is not the first time my photographs have been exhibited but certainly the first time at this level and quality. I re-edited all images from the original RAW format files directly to the display size, the file sizes were ridiculous but it was worth it, I loved finally seeing my work as they are meant to be.
I was not alone in this, the powerhouse behind this is Shelly Corbett, a Seattle native, together with Boris Vanrillaer from Stockholm, Sweden. They asked me to join them for this and, curious as I am, I did. The exhibition turned out a fine selection of the work of three photographers. This has been the most interesting and uplifting experience.
The exhibition is open from March 7 to April 11.
